Mystika: Between Light and Shadow is a puzzle game that combines two of the most popular genres in the casual gaming world - match 3 puzzles and hidden-object games.
As one of the most experienced young mages, your objective in Mystika will be to recover The Luminous, your unique source of magic, which was captured by Tenebria, the queen of the dark.
With that goal in mind, you will travel all over the world and solve numerous puzzles to get the six spells that will help you in your mission.
For the most part, the game consists of standard match 3 games where you need to combine identical elements to clear the board. In this case, you need to remove all the golden tiles before time runs out. As puzzles get more complicated, you will receive power-ups in the form of spells, which will help you in different ways to complete the level faster. Also, from the very beginning, there's an annoying enemy, the Fury Bat, which gets in your way putting additional tiles in the board, so you need to get rid of it as soon as it appears. From time to time, you will need to solve hidden-object games too, finding all the objects that appear on the list.
Combining the elements that are familiar to the casual gamer, Mystika is a game that is both accessible and entertaining. Probably, it suffers from the same flaws most games of this type do; it becomes repetitive very soon. Nonetheless, with the addition of new twists in every new level, Mystika: Between Light and Shadow manages to keep the interest up.
